Some of our 1st days with Amelia

Amelia is adjusting well. We are very happy with all of her energy. She loves to scream and jump. She has made every minute of this trip worth it. Except the for the pain that we have had. It's very hard for me to write about her when I'm still so upset about Lily but I feel like this blog is what helped us go on with our journey. We have been so blessed and I know that I keep saying that but it's all I think about. We never would have made this decision without the support of all of you. We have our friends and family to thank for guiding us through the past 8 and half weeks. Some of you have helped me for years to get here and you know who you are.

I want you all to post something for Amelia. She is every baby that I have lost. She makes my heart feel full of love and joy. She carries a very big load of our pain and makes us want to wake up in the morning. She is the reason I'm here on this earth, to be her Mama. Paul has not been the same man since he first laid eyes on her. Paul is the kind of person that people have to grow on him. He is her BaBa. That's the names for dad and in Chinese, I think we will keep it, but I don't know. They are both Leo's I think. She melts his heart and that is hard to do. So she must have been heaven sent. I watch him with her and think about everything he has done for me, and I get so emotional. He is a great dad, once again, heaven sent just like Derrick, Shawn and Kaelin. Derrick and Shawn are big brothers to Amelia, she is lucky to have such a wonderful family. I can't wait until she meets you.

  1. Amelia, you have filled all of your parents hopes and dreams. You have a forever family now and lots of family and friends at home that cannot wait to meet you. Those sweet beautiful eyes look full of happiness and contentment that only comes from being loved and that you are. You have some big shoes to fill but look and sound like you are fully ready to take that job on. We love you so much already, imagine what it will be like once you get home? Love you Aunt Karen

  2. Amelia, I have known your mom and dad for a long time, and let me tell you, your one lucky girl. Your parents are going to treat you like a princess. You have filled up a hole in your mommy's heart that has been there for too long.
I cannot wait to meet you.

  4. Sandy, Paul and Amelia, Congratulations on becoming a family! Each of you are finally where you are meant to be. Although the path was long, it was the only path that could lead you here. You have saved two little girls. I am so happy for you all.

Look at the smile on Paul's face, and it's a side shot. I have always just thought of YOU when it came to the baby, but Miss Amelia has already got BaBa wrapped just by what I've seen in the pictures. Looking at Amelia in the pictures, she just fits! It looks so right.
I know the ache you have had all these years and I would always tell myself (when I was so down about not being able to have another child or adopt), "at least I have had one child, Sandy is still waiting for her gift from GOD", but as you know that doesn't make that hard to breathe, heaviness inside your chest go away. Some days it would hurt so bad, I wondered if it was a heart attack. I also know how our marriages have taken it's toll over the years with the conflicts of our deep desires for a child (another one for me). Then my life changed one day as I was just flipping through on the internet and found Mary. That was the best thing I have ever done, taking her in and getting to be apart of her and Nevaeh's life. I honestly don't think my marriage would have lasted or my sanity. Everyone tells me that is so wonderful of me for taking Mary in and helping her, but they don't realize what she has done FOR ME. That baby girl, pretty much saved me. Tom won't tell you, but she has changed him too! :)

I know how Amelia has now SAVED you. How looking at her makes that ache just disappear. Sandy I am so happy for you and Paul. I know at one point I questioned GOD, why is he doing this to you, but little did I know (or the rest of us) we needed to wait for Lily and Amelia's time to come here on earth. Somedays we forget that he knows what he's doing! You have now been blessed with the most precious gift, YOUR DAUGHTER!

  7. Sandy and Paul,
Congratulations on your little girl! I thought Reese had a lot of hair- man does she have a lot of hair! I enjoyed reading that she likes to scream and jump. I know another little girl who loves those same things. I'll bet she loves music and dancing too just like her cousin. Sorry to tell you, Reese still loves to scream! But it is so much fun!!!!! We are all happy for you. Amelia is blessed to have you and Paul to call Mama and BaBa. We cannot wait to meet her and squeeze her cheeks. You all deserve each other. I am so glad you all were able to get to this point and open your hearts up to her. I cannot imagine your life without her in it now.

    Love ya,
    Jill

  13. Paul and Sandy, The best way I have found to describe the international adoption experience is-- it's mountains and valleys. You've been to the top of that mountain and you've been in the deepest valley. At the end of the day you are the family you always wanted to be. I am a true believer that every thing happens for a reason. Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous. Amelia Yi, you are Beautiful!!! You have no idea how long you have been in your parents hearts and how cherished you are. We cannot wait to meet you and spoil you absolutely rotten!! We will definately give you coke and chocolate when your parents aren't looking!!!! The Ferguson's (Chuck, Lorie, Zoe, Zeke and Zerah)

Amelia couldn,t be more blessed for having the two of you for parents and vice versa. Thank God for the two of you because now maybe Lily's life will be much better because she will get the help long needed. I don't know you two except through Jill and I am so very glad she has kept me updated about you status. This is a joyous time for your family and I hope everything glides through very easy and quickly so you can come back to the states with your new daughter. Congratulations and much happiness to you all. Thanks Jill for keeping me informed and please continue to do so!

  18. Amelia,
I can't wait until you get home. I have so many plans for us. There is so much for you to see and do. The zoo is a lot of fun, maybe we can go together, and when we get a little older I will sneak my dads truck so we can tailgate at the UofL games. P.S. don't tell your BaBa. He will get so mad.
    Love,

  19. To our lovely daughter and family;
Life is so good now that your family is complete, two boys and daughter and grandchild.
I wish I could be there with you for so many reasons but getting home is closer, we are so proud of your decisions,Lily will get most needed help and Amelia came into your life. If she is a spit fire that reminds me of her mother. Paul seems so relaxed with her in his arms, a natural BaBa. Hurry to our arms and heart here at home..
Love you all Dad and Mom Willett
